==================================
As Giving Tuesday approaches on December 2, Final Exit Network reflects on the power of generosity. It sustains our mission, expands our reach, and most importantly, changes lives. Every gift, large or small, has allowed us to stand with individuals and families facing some of life’s most difficult decisions, ensuring dignity, autonomy, and compassion at life’s end.
This Giving Tuesday, we invite you to join us once again. Together, we support the fundamental human right to choose one’s own exit.
A Mission Rooted in Compassion
Since its founding in 2004, FEN has worked to provide guidance, education, and a compassionate presence to those navigating end-of-life choices. Donations have fueled this mission by keeping our support lines open, training and sustaining dedicated volunteers, and ensuring that every person who reaches out feels heard and respected.
One supporter shared: “Let me begin by saying that I will always be grateful to FEN for being there at what was one of the most difficult times of my life, and that I respect and value the work that you are doing. It truly makes the world a better place.”
These words capture what your generosity makes possible: helping people feel less alone and more empowered during moments of profound vulnerability.
The Power of Presence
Beyond resources and education, FEN provides presence. Our volunteers walk alongside individuals and families, offering compassion, knowledge, and reassurance. That presence is often the difference between despair and peace. As a client’s family member told us:
“As difficult as this experience was, it would have been much more difficult without FEN. I am not a religious person, but I can truly say that your work is a blessing to the world. I will be forever grateful to everyone who helped me, and I wanted you to know what a big difference you made. In the time since my husband passed, I have been sad, but the reassurance of knowing that he ended his life exactly as he wished makes everything easier to accept.”
These stories remind us that dignity and autonomy are not abstract values. Rather, they are lived experiences, often made possible by the support of our donors.
Moments That Matter Most
When families reach out to FEN, they often do so in their hardest moments. Your gifts allow us to show up with compassion, ensuring those moments are filled with dignity rather than fear.
One daughter shared: “And we are so very grateful to FEN. You enabled my mom to exit in peace and comfort. There is no way to appropriately thank you for the enormity of that beautiful, kind gift.”
Another wrote simply: “I feel so lucky because FEN just gave me so much in my life.”
Every dollar donated helps create more moments like these; moments where individuals and families can look back with gratitude instead of regret.
A Blessing to the World
The testimonies we receive are both humbling and affirming. They remind us that this work matters deeply and that it is sustained entirely by people like you.
In the powerful words of one couple: “Words simply cannot express how grateful Joe and I are for your help at such a monumental moment in our lives. You are the angels that we have been praying for. Thank you for making this moment a beautiful experience for us. This is the last moment we will have on this earth together. You have given Joe his dignity, and you have given us a calmness and allowed us to do this together on our own terms in the privacy of our home where we have lived together for over twenty years.”
This is the essence of Final Exit Network’s mission: dignity, compassion, and autonomy. And it’s only possible because of your generosity.
Beyond Direct Support: Advocacy and Education
Your donations also fuel our broader advocacy of educating the public, amplifying the right-to-die movement, and providing clarity in the complex and often misunderstood areas of that cause. Through our magazines, webinars, and outreach, FEN has become a vital voice in shaping how society understands end-of-life choices.
Every contribution allows us to expand these efforts, reaching more people who need information, reassurance, and a safe place to ask difficult questions.
Sustaining the Network
FEN’s strength lies in its people: our volunteers, staff, members, and donors. Together, we form a compassionate network that supports individuals and families when they need it most.
Donor support makes it possible to:
- Train volunteers who accompany individuals on their journeys.
- Publish educational resources that empower families and communities.
- Provide outreach nationally about autonomy and dignity at life’s end.
Each of these pillars rests on the generosity of people like you.
Looking Ahead
As we look toward the future, FEN remains steadfast in our mission. With new leadership under Executive Director Michelle Witte, we are poised to expand awareness, strengthen our advocacy, and continue offering compassionate support to those who need it.
Michelle recently reflected, “Every person deserves dignity at life’s end. I am honored to lead Final Exit Network in protecting that right, and I invite you to join us.”
Michelle’s vision underscores what we already know: This mission is both urgent and enduring.
How You Can Help This Giving Tuesday
Your generosity today ensures dignity tomorrow. Here’s how you can support FEN this Giving Tuesday:
- Make a donation – Every gift fuels direct support, advocacy, and education.
- Become a member – Stand proudly with others who believe in autonomy and compassion.
- Share our mission – Bring FEN’s story into your circles so more people know help is available.
In Gratitude
Every testimonial we receive is, at its core, a thank you to our donors. Each voice carries the same message: “You made this possible.”
On this Giving Tuesday, we hope you’ll continue to stand with us. Together, we can ensure that no one faces the end of life without dignity, without compassion, and without choice.
From all of us at Final Exit Network – thank you.
